Los Angeles September 19 Dr Taggart says Senator Bard's condition worsens from early evening. He is restless with weak irregular heart action.
A. E. Whitcomb of Chicago shot W. Sampson and Mrs. Elizabeth Notter at Sampson's home, then killed himself. Sampson was wounded, Notter was injured but to recover. Whitcomb and Sampson died within an hour of midnight. Notter survived. A little boy and a daughter witnessed the tragedy.
In Jersey City the nude body of Anna Pulitzer was found in the Morris canal with a twenty pound iron weight tied to her waist and a six inch stab wound. Detectives investigate a possible kidnapping and murder. Joseph Pulitzer, her husband, is detained for questioning.
Circuit Attorney Folk filed information charging former Delegate Hannigan Denny Albright and Beresch with perjury after grand jury testimony. They denied knowledge of a reported $75,000 payment by Suburban Street railway to house members to secure a franchise. The information mirrors an indictment. Missouri allows information at the DA's discretion.
The Baltimore and Ohio Southwestern Royal Blue Flyer derailed at Leesburg near Chillicothe Ohio when it hit an open switch at fifty miles per hour. In Marion Indiana on September 19 an electric interurban car collided with a freight train at an seldom used switch near the soldiers home. The crash injured over twenty people as the car, traveling about twenty miles an hour, failed to stop. The freight engineer says his bell rang and the motorman lacked control of his car.
In Brackettsville Texas on September 19 a fire at Bacon Cox’s home killed three occupants Nettie Cox thirteen May Cox ten and Tom Cox eighteen. An older sister was removed from the flames by rescuers and is seriously injured.
Edmund Jellinek, a cashier at the Lenderbank in Vienna, vanished while in Vienna on September 19. He is charged with defrauding the bank of 315000 by falsifying checks and using the funds in speculation. he has not been apprehended.
Alonzo Tucker, a Black man who assaulted Mrs. Dennis near Libby, was lynched in broad daylight in Marshfield Oregon. A heavily armed mob stormed the jail, pursued Tucker through town, and hanged him to a bridge beam after a failed capture at Dean & Co. store.
New York report says J E Weik man a marine private at the Brooklyn navy yard was arrested after a series of robberies in the marine barracks. A trunk said to belong to Weikman yielded jewelry Chinese and Japanese curios rare porcelain and many oriental goods valued at about fifty thousand dollars. Weikman protests his innocence.
Dr. A. A. Ames the absent mayor of Minneapolis denies all incriminating statements in a twenty page deposition given to Assistant County Attorney Jelley at West Baden. The deposition was filed with the county clerk and contains numerous questions.
Niegenfend, wounded killer, was moved from Winside to Blair for safety after reports of an angry mob heading to Pierce. The mob proved imaginary, but authorities acted. His wounds are not dangerous, and District Judge Boyd ordered his return to Pierce for trial on the 29th.

Des Moines September 19 Charles E Pickett of Waterloo past grand exalted ruler of the Fiks has formally announced his candidacy to succeed Speaker Henderson It is urged he will unite all factions of the party.
Des Moines Iowa September 19 The sovereign grand lodge I O O F voted 140 to 36 to repeal the 1901 Indianapolis amendment admitting mixed Indian and white blood members The debate was spirited with Indian Territory delegates supporting the amendment and Southern delegates opposing fearing an opening to black membership
Illinois Central Railroad announced it will open the St Paul line on November 2 creating the only through New Orleans to St Paul route under one management. Trains will run to Albert Lea via Dubuque and from Albert Lea to St Paul over Burlington Cedar Rapids and Northern. The Rock Island opens its own line to St Paul on November 1. Initial Illinois Central service will be one train a day in the passenger department.

East lines will apply a flat reduction to all Eastbound points, combining with the Minneapolis Chicago rate to yield a 22 percent overall rate instead of 25 cents from Minneapolis and Duluth to Buffalo and Pittsburgh. reductions apply to all intermediate Central Freight Association points.
At Villa Nova college in Philadelphia the prior general of the Augustinian order announced Rev. Daniel O Mahoney of Andover Mass and Rev. J E McErlaine of Villa Nova are sent as pioneers for American priests to the Philippines to succeed Spanish friars. They depart Manila within two weeks, with more volunteers expected. Many Spanish friars in the Philippines belong to the same order.
