Arson suspected in Coca Cola Bottling warehouse fire

The 75 year old Coca Cola Bottling Co warehouse on 100 block of 2nd St SE Austin suffered extensive damage after a late Monday fire. Arson is suspected as the cause and the State Fire Marshal is to investigate. Firefighters fought the blaze for hours, with rekindling of smoldering debris later that morning.

Area man dies in Monday accident amid weekend Minnesota tragedies

James J. Jensen, 53, of Austin rural route, died when his pickup left exit 12 on I 35 east of Albert Lea and rolled. He worked at Wilson meat packing. Jensen leaves five daughters, two sons, a brother, a sister and several grandchildren. Funeral set for Thursday at Bonnerup and Son in Albert Lea. Labor Day weekend saw 16 Minnesota deaths from plane crashes, traffic accidents, a tornado, and other incidents, with several more deaths out of state.

Detroit AP reports a federal grand jury opens a probe into the 1975 disappearance of ex Teamsters leader Jimmy Hoffa.
