Owatonna Boy Receives Carnegie Hero Medal Honor
The Gwaloona Journal Chronicle reports that a young man among the state’s public school peers saved two young ladies from drowning in the Straight River on the last day of November. He was awarded a bronze medal and two thousand dollars by the Carnegie Hero Medal Commission. August Ungyn, a former state school boy living with the Jager family, was active in school and plans for college education now seem brighter due to the award.
