Ice Cream Princess Heads to Colombia Dairy Fair

Ruth Marie Peterson Minnesota's Princess Kay of the Milky Way was honored at a Washington luncheon on the eve of her departure for Bogota Colombia to represent the American dairy industry at the Dairy Fair International. She will distribute reconstituted milk and ice cream with Bogota students and meet U S officials including Secretary Ezra Taft Benson.

FBI Presses Hunt for Killer in Lindbergh Case

Gerald Miller Named Outstanding Austin Area Farm Boy

Gerald Miller a 16 year old from the Oakland area was named the outstanding farm boy of the Austin area by the Austin Junior Chamber of Commerce. He will join 9 other top farm youths for a three day trip to the International Livestock Show in Chicago sponsored by the Austin Jaycees. Miller a St Augustine High School senior studies agriculture at Austin High School and is a member of the Oakland Moscow 4H Club. He has 41 projects earning 40 blue ribbons and has exhibited at major fairs and shows. He plans to study agriculture in college and possibly operate his own farm.

USI Drive Reaches 75 Percent of Goal in 1955 Campaign

The 1955 USI drive surpassed 75 percent with 45177.89 dollars in pledges and contributions. Race Crane, general chairman, expects the 59998 dollar goal to be reached as plant workers are solicited over the next two weeks. Readily named cooperating agencies include the Austin Association for the Mentally Retarded, Salvation Army, Girl Scouts, Milk Fund, YMCA, YWCA, USO, Sister Kenny and Heart Fund.

Winona Hunter Fatally Shot During Deer Hunt

A Winona man was fatally shot while deer hunting in Itasca County east of Blackduck Saturday. Dan Burke told Dr. H A Palmer that Al Robinson stepped from the woods as Burke fired at a deer.

Graham Wins Delay in Making His Plea

Denver: John Gilbert Graham, 53, charged with murdering his mother in the United Air Lines crash that killed 44, was granted until December 9 to enter a plea. Dist. Judge Edward J. Keating approved the delay after defense counsel requested at least two weeks.

Meany Leads AFL CIO Merger To Form Unified Labor Front

George Meany, head of the AFL, has steered a 20 year split ending merger with the CIO creating a single 16 million member labor federation. He reassures businessmen that the new AFL CIO will act as a force for good and will not become a government controlling monopoly. The merger formalizes with separate AFL and CIO conventions then a joint AFL CIO gathering near Grand Central.

A 1400-member cross section of Americans gathered at the White House for the four day Conference on Education in Washington. Delegates from 18 state conferences debated federal aid to schools with a mix of positions and directions.
