Storm Delays Real Estate Commission Trial in Grand Meadow Case

District Court delayed proceedings as storm prevented a key attorney and one juror from reaching Austin. Eleven jurors remained to continue the trial of P. C. Travis a Grand Meadow broker seeking a $1 000 commission over a Racine area 160 acre farm sale to Bert Olson. The case centers on a dispute involving Clarence Piens and commission claims by Travis with four lawyers and multiple witnesses.

Slot Defense Denies Conspiracy Motive in Slot Shipment Case

Defense attorneys in St Paul argued there was no conspiracy in the interstate shipment of 38 slot machines from Iowa and Illinois to Minnesota between February 28 and March 2, 1951. Wagner Low in Temple Bid for Labor Temple Project

The Building Committee of Local 9 reviewed base bids for the $150000 CIO Labor Temple on Tuesday night. Wagner Construction Company topped general bids at 119404 with N A Peterson Austin 119465 and Lysne Construction 131404 following. other bids ranged to 137000. Additional bids covered plumbing heating and electrical work. Contractors have 18 months from start to finish with construction likely beginning early spring and a committee meeting set for Monday to award bids.

U N infantry repelled a Chinese Red assault on Jackson Heights after a four hour fray. Lt Cecil G Foster of San Antonio earned his fifth air victory, becoming the 24th Korean war ace.

In Mansfield Ohio Linda Harmon five suffers from incurable kidney cancer. Doctors say she may not live to Christmas. Her parents Mr and Mrs James Harmon were told by doctors of the prognosis. Linda’s great step uncle organized a Westinghouse plant Christmas party to lift the girl’s spirits. A tree with trimmings and gifts was arranged and friends attended the home Yuletide gathering. Linda endured pains but kept brave through the surprise visit and festive occasion.

Prize Quilt Makers Entertained at Concord Grange

Concord Grange hosted the women who made the first prize quilt and their husbands Monday evening. The group received $50 for first place and the quilt will be presented to Minnesota's first lady Mrs. C Elmer Anderson. Prizes were won by Mrs Adolf Klatt Mrs Art Loucks Mrs Maynard Thyer Everett Staley and Glenn Gordon. The next meeting is December 3 for inspection.

London court official R A J Chislett reports in a Surrey justice study that in 100 divorce cases the root cause was another woman in 42 cases. Compatibility problems led to 36 percent, money issues 5 percent, sex troubles 3 percent, drinking 3 percent, gambling 2 percent, nagging wife 8 percent, unknown causes 8 percent.
