Police disperse a violent mob outside Chicago after a fierce struggle as officers thwart a lynching effort. Witnesses describe aggressive crowd behavior and quick intervention by law enforcement to prevent tragedy.
In Chaco Nov 21 a mob of men and women clashed with 20 officers as Harry Evans, an accused Black man, was paraded for identification after an attack on year old Freda Guendal. Spectators shouted hang the black scoundrel amid tense scenes.
Witness reported a mob driven by anger identified Evans as the attacker of a young girl in a house. Police arrived with a wagonload of officers to prevent lynching as a fierce struggle ensued and the suspect was jailed.
Twelve professional bank robbers attempted to loot Sperry Warn staff's bank at Ashley Ohio before dawn. Nine held citizens at bay while four dynamited the vault. the group fled on foot after horses and rigs were destroyed. The bank suffered about half its value in damage with $15,000 in deposits reportedly on hand.
A disturbance left the town on edge as masked men fled the scene without injuring anyone. The incident involved a group described as the Lue gang and occurred during a tense moment for local residents.
Burglars blew the safe at T. F. Neumann’s hardware store in Foreston Minnesota stealing about 500 in cash and 600 in checks and town orders. The clocks stopped at 1 25 a m. interior damage runs to several hundred dollars. Two strangers, likely from Milaca, are suspected of the crime and escaping on a morning train.
Sioux Fats S D Nov 21. City authorities of Flandreau declare a war on gamblers and gambling devices. All suspected gambling venues have been closed and the orders are strict and far reaching.
General Fitzhugh Lee arrives in New York from Cuba and will stay three to four days. After leaving Washington he heads to Omaha to assume command of the department of Missouri assignment.
St Peters burg November 21 Russia plans to cut back spending due to Chinese troubles. An 8 500 000 rouble rise in 1901 popular school appropriations will not be made official.
A powerful tornado ripped a three mile wide path from near Lula, Mississippi to La Grange, Tennessee killing at least nineteen people and injuring six. Telegraph and telephone lines were severed hindering reports. Destruction included homes, farms, and churches with widespread crop damage and downed wires across North Mississippi and parts of Illinois Central lines.
A tornado demolished the Nashville and Chattanooga depot and 18 houses at La Verges, nine miles south of Nashville on the Asheville line. Over a mile of telegraph wires were destroyed. A man named Robertson and his child were killed and the section boss injured. A separate wire break occurred at West Harpeth, 25 miles south, with no details available.
A telephone message from Columbia Tennessee reports several deaths and extensive property damage after a storm swept through the area. The message reached Birmingham Alabama on November 21.
Avausta. Me November 21 Joseph Manley resigns after 16 years as executive chairman of the Maine state Republican committee and 20 years on the committee. The resignation takes effect with the new year when the incoming committee is inaugurated.

Rear Admiral Roger N. Stembel retired, died of pneumonia in a New York Fifth Avenue hotel. He would have turned 90 next month and was among the oldest serving and retired rear admirals, second only to Thomas C. Selfredge in years of life and service.
An explosion in shaft No 1 at Ellsworth Coal company in Ellsworth Pennsylvania on November 21 killed one worker and seriously injured three others. The blast was caused by fire damp.
