Three thousand Chicago City Railway employees stage a mass meeting and quit work at 4 a m to press for a 25 percent wage raise union recognition and other concessions. The company plans to use several hundred nonunion replacements to operate over 220 miles of surface lines on the south side.
Reports from New England cotton mills indicate Fall River plans a 10 percent wage cut effective Nov 23. The move has caused unease with expectations of similar reductions in Rhode Island, Eastern Connecticut, and possibly other Massachusetts cities. During a severe electrical storm in Chattanooga Tennessee on November 12 lightning struck the Rapid Transit power house. The generator was struck causing a 50 foot fly wheel to burst into pieces. Engineer in charge was fatally injured and Robert Morgan was killed by a flying fragment. All company lines are without propulsion.
A fatal crash occurred near McKean Pennsylvania as a car collided with a crowded electric train. Police are investigating the cause as emergency crews assist passengers and remove victims. Local authorities report no immediate details on casualties or injuries.
A gravel car brake system failed on the Erie Traction line between Erie and Cambridge Springs, causing a high speed collision that killed four people and injured several, with two fatally. Grand Rapids records Mrs. Nancy Jeanette Flood found guilty of the murder of John London at her farm on April 21, 1903. Circumstantial evidence centered on London's $1,000 life insurance as he dined at Mrs. Flood's table before being shot to death.

Lieutenant Bilsen of the German army was sentenced by a Metz military court to six months in prison and dismissal for his book A Little Garrison. The novel, said to insult officers and depict Forbach and Alsace Lorraine, was ordered destroyed. he also disobeyed an imperial ban on pamphlets without approval.
The body of Perry L Caxton United States commissioner of Southern Illinois was found near Carbondale Illinois by an Illinois Central train crew. A bullet hole was found in the lower body and a revolver with one empty chamber lay nearby in a suspected suicide or foul play investigation.
