Field Crest Nursing Home Plan Outlined For Hayfield

Preliminary plans for Field Crest Nursing Home in Hayfield outline a one floor facility for about 55 residents with mostly double rooms, some singles and four bed wards. LeVander Wins Minnesota Governor Seat Amid Cross Over

Harold LeVander, Minnesota's new Republican governor elect, plans to work from Capitol space offered by defeated Gov. Karl Rolvaag. He cites a $115 million budget surplus as reason to reject a state sales tax and credits cross over votes from DFL and independents for his victory. Witness Testimony Emerges in Marilyn Sheppard Trial

Unemployed former bakery truck driver Jack Krakan testified in the Sheppard murder retrial that Marilyn Sheppard gave a key to a well dressed man visiting in the kitchen between December 1953 and July 1954. Crakan identified one photo as the kitchen visitor, while criminologist Paul Kirk discussed blood type and potential defenses. The state rested after nine days and 14 witnesses. 30 witnesses appeared in the first trial.
