Early voting across Iowa Tuesday drew heavy turnout for national state and local races. Officials predicted a statewide total of 1,285,000 voters, a record and above 1960's 1,273,810. precincts reported long lines and crowds in multiple towns.
Local airman Sp. 4 James D. Larson was wounded during a Viet Cong raid on the Saigon area. He served with the light helicopter division and is hospitalized for an undetermined period. Bien Hoa Air Field was heavily attacked. another Winnebago man, Sp. 4 Ronald O Keefe, was among the dead. Larson’s address listed at 33rd AF Dispensary APO 307 San Francisco.
A five minute Humphrey campaign spot on KSTP-TV drew Republican protest charging violation of state election law. NBC allegedly fed the ad. station officials stressed lack of prior knowledge and Minnesota law restrictions on election day advertising. DFL leaders said no local paid spots were placed and urged inquiries. a grand jury inquiry was requested in Waseca.
Five new types of Soviet rockets are hauled through Moscow at night as part of Revolution Day parade preparations. The display includes two field artillery rockets, a possible high altitude anti aircraft weapon, and two surface to surface rockets, including a long liquid fueled monster.

In Bagley Clear Water County one precinct shows Johnson 18 to Goldwater 1. Han guard Township totals record McCarthy 18 and Whitney 1 in the Senate race. For the Tth District, Ken Wichterman 16 defeats Odin Langen 3 for Congress.
