Fairmont Gridder Killed After Halloween Party Ride
A Fairmont High School football player died when a pickup carrying seven youths rolled over near Northrop after leaving a Halloween party. Jon Owens, 18, drove the vehicle as Gary Gilbert, 17, died from a broken neck and ruptured lung. Six others were unhurt. Police say Owens sought to elude a following car. The party was canceled after the death. In Nebraska Miss Anna Wold from Wayzata died after her car struck a cow.
