Sacramento May 26 Governor Budd said no clemency decision would be announced before Thursday or Friday for Theodore Durrant and Worden petitioners. Worden was sentenced to three years for involvement in a railway wreck during the railway strike.
About 200 electricians walk out in Milwaukee after contractors refuse their demand for 38 1/4 cents as the minimum hourly wage. They say eight hours must constitute a day's work. contractors offer 25 cents.
At 1 a.m. the flood alarm warned El Paso residents as the Rio Grande burst its levee. The river peaked near the 1891 level, sweeping at least 120 homes and forcing hundreds into freight cars afloat in the city. Fire bells saved many lives.
In Provincetown Massachusetts on May 26 the fishing schooner Jose Johnson returns with three survivors from a 19 man crew bound for the West bank fishing grounds 200 miles off Nova Scotia. Yankton South Dakota May 26 A Nation who was negotiating with J J Hill for the Missouri River bridge at Yankton and a line to Norfolk Nebraska has handed the work to others naming N D Miller as agent. About 500000 dollars are set aside to start work and construction should begin by June 10. If built the road may be by Hill otherwise the Great Northern could take control of the Sioux City bridge.

Rio Grande flood waters inundate part of Socorro including the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe railroad yards. Scores of farms and orchards are under two to three feet of water, causing thousands of dollars in crop and fruit tree damage.
Davenport Iowa May 26 The Episcopal convention of the diocese of Iowa gathered at Grace cathedral with a large crowd. The major issue was appointing a coadjutor to Bishop Perry who said he would oppose any such appointment without vested funds or endowment to support the successor for life. The decision was referred to a committee for consultation with the bishop. The diocese shows strong interest due to the bishop's frequent travels and long absences.

Beams show uniform section with 3 4 inch web, flanges 7 44 inches wide, and 59 pounds per foot. The lightest successful weight is 80 pounds per foot. Experiments conducted in a mill built by Henry Grey, the company manager, and covered by patent.
May Campbell, a variety actress from Cincinnati, hid in Maud Devere's rooms in St. Louis and overheard her husband and Miss Devere planning an elopement. She then fired six shots, wounding her husband and Maud Devere, and surrendered at the Four Courts. Campbell was taken to city hospital in dying condition, the other wound not believed fatal.
The Iowa Federation of Labor in Des Moines on May 26 continued its session and adopted resolutions praising Cuba and backing municipal ownership of electric light plants water systems street railways and telephones as well as the abolition of poll taxes.
