Senate and House conference committees reach accord on Indian appropriations with a Gilsonite leasing plan replacing purchase. Any claimant may lease a claim and hold it perpetually for a royalty of 75 cents per ton. A Pettigrew led provision bars trusts by forfeiting government claims of entrants who restrain production or fix prices.
A Chicago meeting discussed forming a company controlled by English capital to corner Great Lakes fishing. The plan would allow contracts with fishermen at fixed prices and influence consumer prices. A. Booth Packing denies trust aims and says meetings aid poor fishermen.
Buffalo Jones of Oklahoma proposes the interior department gather the last wild buffalo in Yellowstone as remaining specimens fall to around fifty. He warns rapid action is needed due to continuous slaughter in the park, while the secretary has yet to decide.

London dispatch reports Turkish forces pressing from Pharsalos toward Domokos and Lamia with the Greeks retreating to Domokos and Volo. Turkish guns already mountable at the pass, while Greeks defend the heights above 1 200 feet. Communications toward Lamia and Spherchios are vulnerable as Turka pass opens.
