Missouri contest: Butler vs Horton seat recommended vacant

In the Hor ton v Butler election case from Missouri's Twelfth district the Republican election committee recommends declaring the seat vacant after hearings. The panel found about 14,000 unlocatable registry names, with roughly 9,500 appearing in voting lists. Butler likely received about 7,000 votes and Horton about 2,500.

Bangor Flood Destroys Bridge Spans and Floods Basements

Flood waters from the Penobscot swept ice and logs against the Maine Central railroad bridge, taking out its middle view and two spans of the wooden toll bridge. Basements in Bangor's business district flooded with goods ruined. a solid ice stretch extends six miles to Hampden, threatening half the downtown if the jam fails.
