Local store announces a Grand Slaughter Sale to clear space for new stock. Bras and hosiery marked down with 3313 percent off on winter hosiery and underwear to make room for fresh dress goods, wash goods, knitwear, and lingerie selections.
An advertisement touts a selection of undergarments, furs, coats, capes, and new spring suits jackets and raglans at close to cost. Shoppers are urged to view the advertised goods and visit the store for deals.
Washington reports show division among Republican congressmen on Cuban reciprocity with efforts to steer the policy away from Payne’s 20 percent plan. President Roosevelt heard varying views after talks with Henderson and Can hon of Illinois and Tawney of Ways and Means.
Prince Henry of Prussia traveled from Chicago to Niagara Falls and Rochester New York on a brief official visit. The Honolulu report notes a dispute over Porto Ricans brought to Hawaii by plantations and whether they may vote. Attorney General Dole said naturalization is needed, as Porto Ricans are citizens of Puerto Rico while Hawaiians are U.S. citizens, and only U.S. citizens can vote in Hawaii.

In Oconomowoc Wisconsin on March 6 three elderly residents, Mr Thomas Mc Laughlin Mrs Margaret McDermott and Mrs McDermott who was a boarder at the Mc Laughlin home, were found dead in the afternoon. A hard coal stove door was open indicating death by asphyxiation. The bodies were badly bloated with two on the floor and one on a bed.
Representative Kahn of California cites a Canadian commission report opposing Chinese immigration and urging a strict treaty plus a $500 head tax on entrants. The finding could affect U S exclusion policy as many Chinese travel through Canada to reach the United States.

Senor Ampil, president of Cantai town in Morong province, Luzon, long an American sympathizer, was captured by insurgents and later rescued. He and some native constabulary disappeared after an engagement on March 8, signaling the rise of a newly formed insurgent organization.
Senor Amplil reports a new insurgent organization is led by Colonel Simotte of Pasaye and formed in Rizal. Fifty five uniformed men with rifles, all bearing badees, are said to be part of the force that captured Benor Ampil. Morong province is in ferment as Ampil's return spreads fear and prompts mass emigration. General Chaffee plans a March 6 inspection tour to Aprarri in Northern Luzon while Acting Governor Wright and Major Henry Allen depart Manila March 10 for two weeks in the southern archipelago.
Floods from an ice gorge on the Platte River cause major damage. Three Missouri Pacific bridge beams were washed out, forcing trains to detour via Gilmore and Plattsmouth. Rock Island rerouted operations to Lincoln over the Burlington line as tracks flooded near Louisville and Meadow.
Washington March 6 The house committee on public lands ordered a favorable report on the Oil to acquire the giant tree trust of California. The secretary of the interior is authorized to purchase it for not over 200000 or to resort to condemnation proceedings.
Vienna reports from an authoritative source that the Austrian-Hungarian mission in Washington will become an embassy in 1908. The move signals strengthened cordial relations between Austria-Hungary and the United States.
