Seven Americans detained by Madrid police during student protests

Seventy Americans were among 42 people detained in downtown Madrid during student demonstrations. The group included two tourists four students and a foreign news correspondent. All were released though film was retained when photography was involved. One New York businessman said he was struck with a rubber truncheon. The U S Embassy intervened in several cases and the plain clothes officer held a newsman for 90 minutes.
