Farmer dies after gun battle with sheriff in Grygla Minnesota
In Grygla Minnesota a farmer died after exchanging shots with Sheriff John Cahill of Beltrami County. The farmer Ole Williamson was 62 and had earlier wounded two deputy sheriffs Dale Russell and Albert W Bennington. A posse of about 30 surrounded the farmhouse as Cahill waited in a ditch near a mailbox and ordered Williamson to drop his gun. Williamson fired on the sheriff as he neared, was shot at about 60 feet, and died ten minutes later from three bullet wounds. Russell and Bennington were not seriously hurt.
