Six Minnesota lake beds ruled not state owned

Minnesota Supreme Court ends 14 years of litigation by ruling six Rabbit River Basin lakes are non navigable and thus belong to riparian owners. The decision affects about 21 firms and numerous corporations including mining interests and banks. Fire Sweeps Large Golden Valley Store

Fire swept the Jensen Super Valu at 7900 Olson Highway Golden Valley early this morning. Fire officials say the blaze started in an electric motor at the rear and spread through the 100 by 125 foot structure. Golden Valley firefighters responded quickly, aided by nearby units, minimizing injuries as interior damage and stock loss occurred.

A newly married St Paul woman Pauline Viola Toth, 20, died after a gunshot wound at her East Fourth residence following a domestic quarrel with husband Jack N Toth. He said she shot herself after his invitation to use the gun. The couple's two young children slept nearby as police investigated the incident.

Boy Struck by Baseball Dies in Minnesota Game

Francis R. Shaw, 14, died after a line drive hit him during a Babe Ruth League game in Crystal. He finished the game and then developed a severe headache on Thursday. He is survived by his parents, Francis J. Shaw and his Robbinsdale family. The Hennepin County coroner ruled the death after autopsy.

Twisters Strike Rural Minnesota Farms Damaged

Two separate tornadoes struck western Minnesota on Thursday evening causing farm damage near Roseland in Kandiyohi County and near Parkers Prairie in Otter Tail County. Lloyd Bulthuis and family escaped to a basement. seven grain bins were destroyed and several buildings damaged. no injuries reported. The area saw scattered showers and a cold front with rain forecast to return later.
