Austin Future Farmers of America visited the Charles Ewald & Son farm near Waldorf 54 miles west of Austin. The 600 acre operation runs with one hired man and focuses on large scale crops and a 85 head Shorthorn herd. They use heavy machinery, plant 225 acres of corn and 125 of soybeans, and have sold about $10,000 of stock this year. The trip inspired the boys to pursue efficient farming and profitable cattle breeding with imported stock from Scotland.
