Laws Explained For Motorcycle Licensing At Austin High

Roger Jacobs, instructor for a program at Austin High, describes an eight hour classroom and six hour range course for licensed under 18 automobile drivers to earn the motorcycle endorsement. The $25 course requires 24 students, with 18 signed up, including one girl. Classes will be morning sessions over about two weeks, and a helmet is needed. The aim is to reduce accidents caused by lack of knowledge and borrowed machines. Participants must take the course to obtain permits or licenses, then pass the endorsement test. Jacobs notes efforts to inform youths about the laws and believes many lack proper permits or licenses despite few unlicensed driving actions by police.
