Democrats in the House move to hold a Monday vote on President Nixon's surtax extension after securing assurances from Republicans. The House will also act Friday to extend withholding rates through July 31, delaying full enactment past the June 30 deadline.
Minneapolis police found the body of Almeda Anderson 25 in Farview Park on the citys north side after midnight with a fatal gunshot wound to the head. A dog walker reported the discovery and authorities identified the victim preliminarily.
Reports vary on President Nixon’s choice for health secretary as Dr. John H. Knowles faces opposition from the American Medical Association and Senate GOP Leader Everett Dirksen.
