A Miss Minnesota contestant Cassandra Ditmarsen did not reach the semi finals yet friends say she won in spirit. At a post pageant reception her boyfriend gave her a diamond engagement ring signaling a personal triumph amid the pageant wrap.
Mrs. Lloyd Hammermeister of Dexter Township captured top honors Tuesday night at Elkton in the Mower County Farm Bureau contest. All township winners baked lemon chiffon cakes. Second place went to Mrs. Thomas Gaddis of Austin Township, with third going to Mrs. Charles Walker of Grand Meadow and others among the judging panel.
Myron and Myra Hokeness of Elkton announce the engagement of their daughter Maribeth Sue to James Harrison Pool son of Mr and Mrs Harry Pool of Minneapolis. Maribeth a Luther College graduate and Osseo Public Schools teacher and James a University of Minnesota graduate employed by Dow Chemical Co will wed August 10 at St John Lutheran Elkton.
Mrs. Jack Fleming of 109 7th St. NE announces the engagement of her daughter Kathy to Terry Dunklee of Bloomington Minnesota. The couple plan a wedding on August 24 at Queen of Angels Church. Kathy is a Pacelli High School and University of Minnesota graduate and will enter medical school. Terry is a University of Minnesota senior majoring in anthropology.
Miss Susan Osmundson and Steven Holmquist wed at Little Cedar Lutheran Church Adams on a Friday evening. Rev Wayne Quibell officiated at 7 pm with Virgil Lonergan accompanied by Mrs Donald Larson. The bride wore ivory peau de soie as her father presented her in marriage.
