Annual Wotase picnic draws large crowd to Mankato
A morning exodus from Austin carried a large crowd to the Annual Wotase picnic in Mankato. The Woodman band and Von Dusko camp accompanied the procession as the city prepared for unprecedented turnout. Northcott and Mayor Carrier addressed attendees amid many attractions. The Marquette baseball team of Chicago passed through Austin en route to face Albert Lea, replacing the Flandreau Indians.

Railroad Wreck Near Avon Causes Injuries
A south bound freight train led by Conductor Henry Bennett wrecked at Avon near Faribault Tuesday night about 11 o clock. Engine nov 22 with Engineer Brooks at the throttle broke in two smashing eleven cars. Conductor Bennett and Brakeman Tom McGravey were seriously injured and the injured will be brought to Austin with Dr Kendricks attending.
