James Ross aged 22 son of Mrs. Clara Ross of 105 N Railway was killed Monday night when he wedged between a construction elevator and a wall at the Geo A Holmes plant in Austin. Foreman Elmer Lieski said Ross died after being taken to St Olaf Hospital and pronounced dead on arrival. He had worked for H J Roadveldt Construction Co of St Paul since spring after returning from military service. Roadveldt employs a core crew in Austin for Hormel projects.

Infants Found Starved to Death in East Side Tenement
In New York City two infants, a 2-year-old girl named Josephina and her 8-month-old brother Antonio, were found dead from starvation in an East Side tenement. Their mother, Anastasia Velez, 32, had been placed in a psychiatric ward eight days earlier. she is under observation at Bellevue Hospital. Police report no known relatives. the family had been on relief since August 1953. The father, Jose Velez, 39, is believed to be living with his parents in New Jersey. Neighbors recall no cries or signs of distress.
