Special to the Herald reports Mark Hanna opened the convention and nominated Wm. McKinley for President. Senator Walcott of Colorado was elected chairman and spoke. Gov. Taylor of Kentucky gave a brief address. A motion to adjourn until Wednesday was seconded.
The advance detail of Company G departed this afternoon for Lake City to arrange grounds and set orders for a ten day stay. Sergt Fenton, Corp Bereson, Privates Freeman Will Fleming Hugh Fleming Harvey Earl O McGulpin and Cook A Kerkow are listed. The remainder under Capt A C Page departs at 8 am Tuesday by a special train. Malloy Bros. announce a new line of candies.
Miss Evangeline Miller daughter of Mr and Mrs Alfred Miller married Ray mond Allan Pooler of Austin in a small Monday morning ceremony at her West Broadway home conducted by Rev L L West. The couple planned a brief honeymoon to St Paul and Colorado before settling in Austin where he works as a leading druggist. Out of town guests included Mrs H O Basford Mrs Pooler Dorothy Pooler Max Pooler of Austin and Mrs Emily Clemens of New York.
Sport McAllister and two East Side friends fished on the Cedar last night. They caught a large pair of bull heads but their pail was too heavy, the boat capsized, and the boys were drenched. The 3rd ward boys are joking about the incident.
The marriage took place at 8 this morning at the bride’s parents home in Minneapolis. Miss Moran is well known locally and has many friends. Mr. Kelly, foreman of the job department at the Register, also has many friends. They plan to live in the city and begin their new life together. The Herald extends congratulations.
