Teaching in Japan Makes Year One to Remember

Mary Dunlap Wennes spent her first year teaching in Japan after marrying Howard Wennes and graduating from the University of Minnesota. They lived in Omi Hachiman where he taught high school and she taught English to grades 1-7, also leading a cooking class for Japanese women. They faced book format differences, cooking gear limits, and language barriers while exploring local markets and a ski trip, with plans to return to Minnesota for teaching and seminary next fall.
