Austin Soldier 18 Dies in Vietnam
Sp4 Stephen Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Osmonson, 1012 12th Ave SW, was killed in South Vietnam on Tuesday June 3 while serving as a door gunner on a helicopter. He would have turned 19 on June 28. Johnson, an Austin High School graduate, enlisted March 1968 and extended his tour by six months. Survivors include his mother, stepfather, sister Tammy 8, brother Jerry 6, and grandparents Rufus and Mrs. Osmonson of Oakland. Funeral plans are pending. He is the 13th Mower County Vietnam casualty.
