The Austin Park and Recreation Department is directed by James Haben director, Robert Johnson assistant director and Robert Auer assistant director, with Mrs. Winifer Gavin and Lori Conklin as secretaries. The Shaw Gymnasium offices host the department. The Park and Recreation Board governs activities with mayoral appointments for three year terms. Current president is Bruce Bergstrom. Vice-Chairman is Dr Richard Nordin, C E Stoike is secretary treasurer, Norman Stuewer and William Deblon represent the Board of Education and City Council respectively. Ray Weis and Robert Montigney are at large. Haben Auer and Johnson serve on the board non voting.
