A letter signed by a negro Baptist preacher named Ruffin urged bands to form at El Rio Kemper county and march to Green Johnsons house to kill whites and burn farms. Outnumbered two to one the blacks were intimidated and the danger appears past though districts remain on alert. News from Marion says residents are tense and ready for emergencies as the threat subsides.
June reports detail the Bowdon murder of Fritz Phillip keeper of a blind pig. Five men Thomas Davis, Thomas Carr, Albert Bowman, Harry Cullum and James O'Brien are charged. Phillip died after blows to head and shoulders. Davis waived examination. Preliminary hearings proceed at Fessenden.

Anthracite operators favor arbitration via a practical board while Civic Federation opposition and ongoing strikes influence hiring, pumps, and flooding concerns as engineers quit and rain relief looms.
