Neumaier urges graduates to value freedom and understanding
Dr John Neumaier Moorhead State College president spoke to Austin Junior College and Area Vocational School graduates on Our Stake In Freedom. He warned freedom depends on understanding internal and external policy and cautioned against self indulgence as the republic faces world troubles. 235 grads listed with eighteen honors students. ceremony featured music by the Junior College String Ensemble under Wilbur Funk and piano soloist Barbara Quamn.

Three Austin students join the Luther College Concert Band sailing from New York to Oslo on the S S Bergensfjord arriving June 11 after leaving Decorah May 29. Weston Noble directs. band members include Judy Randahl Charles Carlson and Judy Olson. After a 33 concert Norway tour, most will continue to Europe. One drum major Richard Lindner broke a foot early but will lead in Norway. Also Kiwanians discuss club improvements attendance and membership and a travelogue series plan.
