The Military Order of Ladybugs met at the Eagles Hall to hear reports on the Austin state convention June 1 to 2 and to elect delegates for the Dearborn national convention August 14 to 17. Members planned Flag Day observances and a June 13 party at a local rest home. A July 3 family picnic is noted at Lafayette Park.
Miss LaDonna Meinders of Osage will be honored at a bridal shower and open house Friday night at Rock Creek Lutheran Church. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Meinders and will wed Larry Estal, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Estal, on June 29 in Osage.
Mr and Mrs George L Dorn, formerly of Austin celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on June 16 with an open house from 2 to 4 pm at the Nordwood Club Seal Beach California A dinner for 40 guests follows Hosts are their children Frederick Fenton Denver Colorado and Robert J Dorn McLean Virginia The couple moved to California in 1955 and now reside at 13320 Del Monte Dr 9 A Seal Beach
Mrs Daniel Greenameyer was welcomed as a new member at the Mrs Jaycees meeting held Tuesday at the Jaycee Club rooms. Mrs Robert Wilson attended as a guest. Plans were set for Miss Minnesota Pageant assistance June 12 to 15. Hostesses were Mrs James Barber and Mrs Robert Finneseth. The July meeting will be a swim party at Blooming Prairie Pool with Newcomers Club members as guests.
The Woman's Society of Christian Service at First Methodist Church held a Wednesday meeting where Mrs. T. E. Colescott and Mrs. Walter Nordin Sr installed circle chairmen for Circles 1 through 15. Adrian Lemattan presented the year's budget. luncheon followed in Wesley Hall.
Prizes for putts and pars were awarded to golfers on ladies day at the Austin Country Club on Wednesday highlighting the event and notable performances.
Mr. and Mrs. Glen Richards observed their silver wedding anniversary with a family dinner at the Holiday Inn Mason City and a surprise party at the Richards home. They married in Osage where Leona Havig was the bride. They farmed in Mitchell County before moving to Carpenter where he manages Tuloma Fertilizer Plant. They have three children Nancy Kathy and Lynn.
The Jolly Birthday Club of Lime Springs met for dinner Monday at the Townhouse in Harmony Minnesota. Honored members were Mrs. Keith Johnson and Mrs. Ethel Lane. Guests included Miss Mildred Stevenson of New Hampton Iowa and Mrs. Viola Applen of Lime Springs. After dinner, the group gathered at Mrs. Richard Kolka's home in Lime Springs.
