Suburban Girl 18 in boating accident remains unconscious

In Litchfield Minnesota a St Louis Park girl aged 18 was unconscious after a Lake Colinwood boating accident Sunday. Patrick Southworth, 18, had internal injuries and underwent surgery Monday. His condition was described as serious. The boat carried Miss Southworth and Thomas A Smith 21 of Minneapolis. Smith suffered a broken arm and was listed in good condition.

Celebrezze Takes Oath as HEW Secretary

In a White House rose garden ceremony Anthony Celebrezze was sworn in as secretary of Health Education and Welfare. President Kennedy stood with the Cleveland native who left the mayoralty to join Kennedy’s cabinet. Ohio lawmakers, Celebrezze’s successor Ralph Locher, and Cleveland Plain Dealer VP Vail attended along with Brazilian students invited by the President.

St Ansgar Grafton and Carpenter Merger Approved in 4 1 Vote

Voters approve consolidation of the St Ansgar Grafton and Carpenter districts 4 to 1 with July 1 1963 as the effective date. Tuition for Carpenter students to attend St Ansgar schools next year is set at 572 for high school and 375 for junior high. The new district, to be called St Ansgar Community School District, will serve about 950 students with a 9 million assessed valuation.
