U S Responds to Soviet Charges Over Downed Recon Plane

United States vows to expose Soviet charges as false after a U S reconnaissance plane was shot down near the Soviet Union. Rochester Publisher Dies of Heart Attack

Rochester publisher and longtime Post Bulletin owner Leland Withers known as Doc died at home from a heart attack after a life in newspapers. He led the Minnesota Associated Press and Minnesota Editorial Association, served in World War I, and chaired civic groups in Rochester. Surviving are his widow three sons eight grandchildren and a brother with funeral plans set for Monday at the Congregational Church.
