1978 Outlook: Slow Jobless Dip Despite Inflation Remains High

The Congressional Budget Office warns Americans face a slow fall in unemployment next year while inflation stays at or above 6.5 percent. OSHA eases rules cutting small firms paperwork burden

The federal government will drop record keeping and reporting requirements for 3.4 million small businesses and cut paperwork for 1.5 million larger firms by half. Labor Secretary Ray Marshall said the move saves money and reduces red tape while preserving health and safety protections.
