Schwab affidavit values company assets at 1.4 billion

In an affidavit the Schwab family cites property holdings including mills valued at 300 million, blast furnaces 48.9 million, iron and Bessemer works 100 million, natural gas fields 26 million, cash 66 million, and over 80 million in materials in process, totaling 1.4 billion with earnings above 140 million annually.

First Cyclone Season Brings Wide Destruction in Dakota and Minnesota

Fargo reports a powerful cyclone cut a path estimated up to thirteen miles long, wreaking havoc across Merrifield, Thompson, Ardock, Manvel, and Carthage areas. Widespread damage includes wrecked depots, destroyed churches, downed telegraph poles, and smashed crops. Violent hail storms sweep Grand Forks area causing damage

Two severe hail and wind storms struck Grand Forks North Dakota and nearby towns during the evening. The first storm, around 6 pm, hit Con way Ardock Manvel and wrecked the depot at McDonald while damaging crops near Carthage. A second storm from the northwest passed southwest of Grand Forks, destroying farm houses and crops. Hail was heavy in both, telegraph lines down hindering details.
