The Northwestern Miller reports Minneapolis flour output last week at 213,560 barrels, up from 200,770 the prior week and 218,465 in 1896. Superior and Duluth produced 30,680 barrels, with foreign bids weak. Domestic demand strengthened as Minneapolis sales neared 250,000 barrels, though foreign offers were below millers' expectations.
The funeral of Archbishop Thomas L. Grace second bishop of St Paul was held in the morning at St Joseph's hospital remains laid in state then conveyed at 8 o clock to the Cathedral where a pontifical mass of requiem was celebrated by Archbishop Ireland Interment followed at Calvary.
William J. Bryan drew a large crowd at the Hyperion theater in New Haven to hear his two hour lecture on bi metallicism. He received frequent applause and stayed for a post lecture public reception as most attendees met the speaker.
In Windsor the town council bans employing aliens on public works in retaliation against U S alien labor law. The approach has been freely discussed in Nia gara Falls and the sentiment favors a similar by law there. The Niagara frontier shows keen support for retaliation.
Boise reports that Representative H. S. James filed an affidavit alleging he was bribed to back Henry Heitfeldt for U S senator. Similar affidavits reportedly have been made by two other members.
The senate appropriations committee inserted an amendment in the sundry civil bill providing 1,085,156 to pay additional sugar bounty claims.
Washington reports the Spanish queen has signed the pardon of Julio Sanguilly. The action, agreed in cabinet days earlier, could affect the Sanguilly case by removing the appeal with no prejudice, leaving room for potential future indemnity claims.

Havana February 26 It is claimed Consul General Lee will resign if Secretary Olney fails to promise support for releasing any other American imprisoned beyond 72 hours under the treaty. The withdrawal of Sanquilly's appeal is said to be tied to a pardon offer already carried.
Washington reports chaotic convention scenes as the Daughters of the American Revolution reelect Mrs. A E Stevenson to head the organization for a fourth term. The vote also kept the office of first vice president general, with Mrs. A G Brackett and Mrs. A D Brackett added to the senior leadership.
Representative Sulzer of New York introduced a measure declaring war between the United States and the kingdom of Spain and its colonies. It authorizes the president to use land and naval forces and issue commissions or letters of marque against Spanish vessels and subjects under U S seal.

A post office inspectors bill gaining marshal powers was approved. A national banks circulation bill, opposed by Mr. Walker, passed 144 to 46 after a late debate.
In Yankton South Dakota on February 26 a report says Congressman Gamble, defeated in the last election, will not contest the seat. He plans to seek the minister to Vienna appointment under the next administration, currently held by Bartiett Tripp of Yankton.
The Calumet and Hecla Mining stock hit a record high on the Boston Exchange with a sale of 10 shares at $370. It stands as the highest price ever reached by any regularly listed stock on the local board.
A telegram from Council Bluffs La. reports Harold F. McCormick and Edith Rockefeller welcomed a fine baby boy. Harold, married November 20 1895, is a son of John D. Rockefeller of New York.
Washington February 26. J H Brigham of Delta Ohio master of the National Grange has been offered and accepted the post of assistant secretary of agriculture to succeed C W Dabney of Tennessee.
Floods are receding from Pittsburgh to Maysville while major towns like Portsmouth Huntington Calletts burg Hanging Rock Aberdeen and Maysville report easing inundation. 5,000 Cincinnati and Kentucky workers have lost or been kept from jobs as factories remain shut and rail traffic resumes with special rates drawing visitors.
The Allan line steamer Assyrian signalled off Halifax reports meeting the Cambrian, London for New York, crippled, on Feb. 15 and taking her in tow. A hurricane on Feb. 17 caused the Cambrian to be lost from sight, leaving the ship seven days overdue with cargo and passengers bound for New York. The Assyrian passed the abandoned Persia on Feb. 20. The Siberian arrived from Glasgow.
In front of a train on the One Hundred and Third street line the electric car was caught between two opposing trains on the Chicago and Eastern Illinois railroad. Four passengers beside the crew were aboard. three were killed instantly and three more were severely injured with possible fatalities. The deceased are motorman George O Malley collector R W Young and car driver Peter Fucher spinz. The crash attributed to the motorman's recklessness.
A New York cable to General Fitzhugh Lee in Havana expresses admiration for his patriotic stand against infamy by some U S leaders. The Cuban League of the United States issues a cordial congratulations stating the move redeems the country to some degree.
In New York on February 26, while Senor Jose Acuma the Spanish vice consul and his wife were away, their apartments were robbed of 2600 dollars in cash and jewels worth 17000 dollars. Numerous valuable papers of great importance to the Spanish government were taken as well.
Ten thousand cloakmakers in New York threaten to strike for higher wages. Martin Klein, secretary of the executive board of the United Brotherhood of Cloak Makers, says the walkout is expected to be declared next week.
