Turkish Cypriot school children protested against independence plans in Nicosia while British troops restrained disturbances. Greek Cypriot celebrations occurred in Paphos as authorities prepared for a London conference outcome with independence due in about a year. Soldiers patrolled the border amid chants against Makarios.
President Eisenhower and Adolfo Lopez Mateos completed informal talks aboard the Mexican yacht and pledged friendship during a goodwill visit to Acapulco. Brownsdale will assume full debt and share Hayfield's debt through 1973 with future obligations shared. The Mower County Board approved the petition and the Hayfield School Board accepted debt terms.
Dave Beck Sr., 64, former Teamsters Union president, was found guilty on four counts of income tax evasion totaling 240067 for 1950 53 and on two counts of filing false returns.
In Jasper County near Laurel, Jack Sanders, 31, confessed after shooting his aunt Susan Arrington, 60, claiming she hoodooed him and caused his trouble. The body was found in a country lane with a pistol wound and flowers in her hands. Sanders faces up to five years and fines of up to 10,000 on each count.
London AP dispatch reports Western plans for a Big Four foreign ministers conference on Germany were rejected by the Soviet Union yet Moscow left room for direct talks. British Prime Minister Harold Macmillan aims to coordinate Allied policy and travels to Bonn Paris and perhaps Washington to probe possible concessions without committing the Allies.
Doctors plan to begin radiation therapy today for Secretary of State John Foster Dulles. Officials said the cancer recurrence was found after a hernia operation last week and that Dulles rested well Thursday.
