Fair Plans to Expand Poultry Building and 4 H Hall
Mower County Fair Board approved plans for a 60 foot addition to the Poultry Building and a new L shaped 4 H Exhibition Hall. The poultry area will be sectionalized for the Southern Minnesota Pigeon Show and rabbit exhibit. Open Tuesday morning entry rules change with admission charged for all but entering exhibitors. Centennial observances, attractions including Aut Swenson Thrillcade, Circle MM rodeo, Grand Ole Opry, and stock car races are planned along with historical displays coordinated by the Historical Society. The board honored the late Richard Rahilly for 13 years of service.

Army Pvt. Sidney Ray Sparks, 23, of Tennile Ga, freed after four years in Soviet custody in East Berlin. He escaped with Ray B. Schultz and Charles J. Scott on Dec 4 1951 from a West Berlin guardhouse. Schultz returned in 1952 with a court martial and five year sentence. Scott remains missing.
