Rural Osage Girl Dead After School Bus Collision
A first grade girl Jean Marie Schweiger 7 of rural Osage died after being struck by a truck following her exit from a school bus on Highway 218. Bus driver Vernon Cockrum 55 stopped to let her off. Milton Gaede 26 of Plainfield operated the truck that skidded and knocked her down. She died after emergency surgery at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital and planned transfer to St Marys Rochester. Funeral set for Saturday at St Ansgar Catholic Church with burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Inmate Escapes Hospital From Minnesota Prison
Donald L. Haley, 41, an aggravated robbery convict from Stillwater, slipped away from University of Minnesota Hospitals while on 24 hour watch.
