The Press prints a claimed true version of the acquisition and publication of the de Lome letter. An unnamed Cuban source says the letter was secured by a Cuban junta agent in Havana post offices and that Don Jose Canalejas never saw the original, learning of it only eight days after its arrival.
Police Magistrate Ellis ruled the $1,000 annual license fee for cigarette dealers excessive and void. He noted there is no municipal tax on tobacco or cigar dealers.

Milwaukee Feb 14 A statement shows Henry Sherry and six affiliated companies carry liabilities of 1 250 000 with nominal assets of 700 000. Sherry’s personal liabilities reach 628 000 and he has endorsed corporate paper for 580 000 more. Estimated assets to cover these obligations total 350 000.
