Philadelphia Dock Strike Nears End With Tentative Pact

A 33 hour marathon negotiates a tentative contract between Local 1291 of the ILA and the Philadelphia Marine Trade Association. The settlement, aided by Labor Secretary Wirtz, could lead to broader nationwide talks ending a 29 day strike affecting 775 ships and 60 000 longshoremen. Ratification votes are set for Tuesday night or Wednesday.

Memorial Service Honors Former President of the University of Iowa

Iowa Farmers Named Master Corn Growers for 1964

Raymond Keppy of Eldridge was named the Iowa Master Corn Grower for 1964 after producing 175.5 bushels per acre on 1.25 acres of an 80 acre field. Donald Starr of Wyoming earned the Iowa Master Contour Corn Grower title for 160.9 bushels per acre.

Two Drivers Unhurt in Head-on Crash on Highway 218 N
