Two Men Die in Fire at Shields Station Shanty

Not by a Seaman Doughlas Shot on the Tennessee

Philadelphia reports Chief Master-at-Arms James A. Doughlas of the cruiser Tennessee was killed after being shot by Sailor Harry Burke who returned to the ship intoxicated and resisting arrest. Burke fired three times and wounded Doughlas and Assistant Master-at-Arms McCool, then wounded himself. Doughlas was forty five years old.
