An Air Force doctor delivered a premature seven month baby at 11 000 feet over the Pacific aboard a plane from Johnston Island to Honolulu. The mother Mrs John Garnett and the 4 pound 10 ounce daughter were in good condition at Tripler General Hospital. The baby was kept alive with improvised methods including artificial respiration and an improvised incubator made from the crew’s supplies during the seven hour flight. Frank Dougherty 65, longtime Fairmont attorney and former state senator, died Sunday in Phoenix from a heart ailment. A World War I veteran, he served in the Minnesota Senate 1939 to 1951, was city attorney for 12 years, a past Fairmont American Legion commander, and a director of Sentinel Publishing Co.
