Heavy blizzard halts all main line traffic on Great Northern in Havre and suspends seven Oriental Limited trains west of town plus five to the east. Temperatures drop to 22 below in Great Falls and 44 below in Havre with Valley county averaging 50 below as snowdrifts stop trains for days.
Salida Colorado February 6 At least twelve people are believed dead after a snowslide on Monarch mountain crushed three businesses Steve Skinner's saloon Fred Mason's roominghouse and Fred Schrader's restaurant. several rescued and heavy debris hinders relief work.

The bodies of Mrs. Frank Schneck and her two children, a seven year old boy and a three year old girl, were found with throats cut at Centeropolis outside Ottawa. Authorities are unsure if the killings were murder and suicide or triple murder. The husband, Frank Schneck, has been absent for months and locals doubt foul play by him.

Kansas City Feb 5 The cold spell grips Kansas Indian Territory Oklahoma and Western Missouri with temperatures around zero and light snow. Civil War veteran William Higley 63 was found frozen to death at Leavenworth Soldiers Home grounds. Laborer James Cummings 37 was found frozen to death at Leeds near Kansas City.
Honolulu news reports the arrival of six hundred Japanese immigrants aboard the Siberia. Several passengers wore full military uniforms and two captains displayed their war medals among the rank insignia.
In Ames Iowa on February 5 Ross Fry was seriously knifed about the head and face during a drunken brawl. Worley Hardesty recently released from Fort Madison penitentiary is under arrest charged with the cutting.
Cleveland report states Mary Gardner Masterson dies from injuries after the gasoline lamp blast that burned her and killed her visitor John Burke in her home.
Goodrich, a town on the Carrington branch of the Northern Pacific, reports by telephone that an unknown woman and five children have frozen to death. Rev. George, pastor of the Methodist church at Dawson, was killed by a snow plow while en route to Steele for religious meetings.
Local Iowa Miners' union branch 2741 forwards a resolution to the U.S. Supreme Court denouncing the Moyer Haywood and Pettibone decision. The group declares contempt for the court action, condemns the president's handling, and vows to counter what it calls subsidized press lies.
