China Boycotts U N Talks on Cease Fire at Security Council

U N diplomats weighed options after Red China refused to send a representative to the Security Council cease-fire talks. State Traffic Toll Hits 62

Minnesota’s traffic toll rose to 62, up from 54 a year ago, after two more deaths on Thursday night. Hibbing man Joseph V. Bevan, 57, died in a collision with a car driven by Mathias A. Colby, Eveleth, who suffered minor injuries. Carl E. Bergquist, 62, of Minneapolis, died from injuries after being struck Tuesday near Washington and 12th avenues S.

Holy Cross College Quarantined Over Hepatitis Cases

Holy Cross College in Worcester Massachusetts was placed under quarantine after four known cases of infectious hepatitis. No students may leave campus as Dr Alexander Witkow ordered the measure announced by Rev Jeremiah Donovan dean of discipline.

School District Mergers Ruled Out by School Board

ST. PAUL The Minnesota School Board Assn ended its annual meeting with a majority vote against further state school district mergers. Mrs. Leonard Rollins and Mark McAlpine were elected president and vice president amid opposition to continued consolidation. Delegates rejected legislation on district reorganization and aid limits, approving only a proposal to raise the minimum pupil count in new districts to 100.

Death Probe Renewed for Eden Valley Recluse

An exhumation is ordered in the case of William Kollmyre, the 74 year old Eden Valley recluse found dead December 20. Officials dispute earlier murder findings and seek a Minnesota pathologist analysis to determine if death was accidental or foul play.

Government to appeal Lattimore perjury dismissal
