The United States announced a travel ban for American citizens to Hungary in protest of government persecutions at the American legation and press restrictions. The move followed the arrest and prison terms given to Endre Marton and Ilona Marton, with two U.S. legation employees also jailed and seven other local staff seized in 1951 1954. The note named unknown fates of several others.
In Boston a superior court judge heard Assistant District Attorney Edward M. Sullivan argue against bail reductions for four of seven alleged Brink's bandits. He indicated a small portion of the $1 219 000 loot has been recovered but would not disclose amounts.

Charles P. Stone deputy commissioner of taxation resigned today effective March 1. Stone, 48, sent a letter to Commissioner G. Howard Spaeth asking to be relieved of duties as personal plans will be announced later in March.
Twin City Rapid Transit Co president warned that if the bus drivers strike begins as scheduled Monday the buses will be placed in garages until a fair agreement is reached. Labor conciliator Hanson set a conference with the company and Transit Employes union division 1005 for this afternoon. The union filed for a 4 am Monday strike, seeking higher pay and greater pension contributions as part of the dispute affecting 1,575 employees. Ossanna noted drivers now earn 912 cents an hour plus fringe benefits totaling an hourly rate of 2.92 dollars.
James P. Taylor, charged by a four count federal indictment in the slaying of Northern State Bank cashier Kenneth Lindbergh, will plead innocent at Monday arraignment in Minneapolis before Judge Gunnar Nordbye. Irving Nemerov, his court appointed counsel, seeks extra attorneys and a March trial date. The indictment cites theft of 14000 in travelers checks and 1750 from the bank, murder to avoid arrest, and interstate transport of stolen checks. Taylor faces possible death or prison and fines.
