Oppose Reciprocity Pact by Montreal Board of Trade
In Montreal on February 1 the Board of Trade voted 60 to 44 in its annual session to oppose the proposed reciprocity treaty with the United States. The resolution urged government to seek nationwide opinion before any reversal of Canada’s policy and to avoid risks to trade and national interests. A committee was appointed to present the resolution to the government.

Death ends long battle in Texas chase
In a thirty mile pursuit near Sierra Blanca Robert Howe and his son were killed after a lengthy gun battle with a posse. Another son, Guy Howe, was wounded and captured. The elder Howe killed Customs Guard Thomas L. O Connor at Fort Hancock during the escape after the murder of I K McClure at Belen New Mexico. Justice of the Peace Hamley was wounded in the escape.

Richman's Body in Creek Solves Disappearance Mystery
Frederick E. Walther, a wealthy Grand Rapids shoe maker, was found dead in Burks creek seven miles from the city. He had left home Tuesday night saying he would go to the drug store and suffered a long standing nervous malady. Police recovered the body as the mystery of his disappearance was cleared.
