Death Toll Slackens Over New Year Holiday Traffic

Youth Wrestler Dies After Toboggan Accident Near St. Joseph
Francis John Bruggman a 19 year old sophomore wrestler at St Johns University died from a fractured skull after a toboggan struck a rock on a dark hill near St Joseph Minnesota. He was among four riders including his brother and two others all from the rural Collegeville area. Bruggman constucted in St Cloud hospital and never regained consciousness. He is survived by his parents nine sisters and two brothers.

Youth Killed in 2nd Area Holiday Fatality
A Blooming Prairie area youth was killed Saturday night when his car left Highway 218 and overturned one mile south of Blooming Prairie. Gary Maixner, 16, died instantly. three companions, Ronald Vaith 18 Dave Johnson 18 and Jimmy Prokopec 17, were treated for minor injuries. The car traveled 720 feet in a ditch and sheared a telephone pole after rolling several times. Maixner recently bought a 1955 model vehicle registered in his father’s name. Funeral services are set for Wednesday in Blooming Prairie.
