The San Francisco courtroom delivered a verdict of murder against Mrs Botkin after a high profile trial. She receives a sentence of imprisonment for life with no possibility of parole, according to the judge's ruling.
In a surprise verdict the Botkin murder trial ends with Cordelia Botkin found guilty of first degree murder for sending poisoned candy to Mrs John P Dunning in Dover Delaware. The jury imposes life imprisonment rather than the gallows amid signs of a possible compromise.

New York December 1 Fr A Parker son of wealthy Chicago residents sits in the Center Street police cot on forgery charges. Police say he heads one of the most dangerous forger gangs in years. Captain Mefakey declares Parker and Walter Dixon, arrested two weeks ago, are the two cleverest forgers he has met.
Hose Kono report says the British steamer Glen Avon hit a rock while sailing from London to Ireland. Part of the crew was saved and landed. captain, chief officer, and two engineers are missing.
Savannah Ga December 31 The transport Obdam sailed for Havana in the afternoon carrying the First Battalion of the Third Nebraska regiment. Beside the Nebraska soldiers the Obdam carried a number of nurses and surgeons for the Havana occupation.
Cutcaco December 31 grand jury found indictments for jury bribing against James Lynch and H Powell. The bribery relates to a street railway company alleged to benefit from the case, though the defendant in question is not named.
In Ossro0 Wisconsin Jackson county a four year old boy and his two year old sister died in a house fire. Police believe the boy started the blaze after being punished and planned that his sister would die with him. The fire began in a room without a stove.
