Chief of Police Galt collapsed on the street Wednesday night with night officer scenary nearby. The city and City Engineer Woodrich dissolve their partnership after a year contract ends. Galt will receive January salary of 125 dollars and an additional 25. He has likely to take a Chicago position.
Early morning gifts began arriving at the Auditorium as a volunteer committee organized by a Main Street businessman distributed food, toys, and clothing. Donations included flour, canned goods, cash, and retailer orders, plus a free matinee for children and support from the Elks and Sunshine Society for distribution and cheer.
Mrs John Rowney and two children of Minneapolis arrived last evening to visit relatives. Mr and Mrs P J Gallagher and children of Farmington are guests of Austin relatives. Hilda Reinartz home from Mitchell S D Oake to remain after New Years. Maurek store closed all day tomorrow. Everything in the toy line half price after 7 PM. Roller rink open afternoon and evening Christmas day. A merry Christmas to all patrons.
