Iowa couple killed in collision near Grand Meadow

A Dun keyton Iowa couple died in a two vehicle crash at 5 20 p m Monday at the intersection of Hwy 16 and 63 six miles east of Grand Meadow Mower County The victims were Bern hard Reil 60 and his wife Esther 55 both of Dunkerton The semi driven by Gilmore Schultz 41 Clinton Wis escaped with minor injuries The crash occurred as the Reils car tried to turn onto Hwy 16 Schultz was en route to Austin to deliver to a local dairy The Reils were returning from Mayo Clinic in Rochester where Mrs Reil had back surgery The two deaths marked the ninth and tenth on Mower County roads this year

FDA bans 39 toys hazardous to children this season

New York AP reports Jews around the world start the eight day Hanukah observance at sundown marking the Maccabees victory over a Syrian tyrant. Tradition holds they found oil for one day that burned eight days as they rededicated the temple in Jerusalem, giving rise to the Festival of Lights.
